There is a misconception that “heavy” and dark are the same. That’s like saying a piece of burned toast is heavier than lighter pieces. The darkness is simply a function of how much the grains are toasted.

I tried finding my blog on Google. After awhile, I found the closest to me were a few blogs on Juice Plus, like the Juice Plus Research Blog, and Juice Plus MLM Watch.

I am thinking of renaming this blog so it is more distinguishable.

Any recommendations?

Dry Cider

I’ve been drinking Aspall Dry English Draft Cider.

I’ve become fond of very dry ciders (apple & pear, mostly).

What does it take to make your own cider?

You can either make apple juice (recommended) or buy apple juice. Without going into each step, the big idea is getting good yeast and fermenting the juice for about three weeks.

I am trying this with real apples. Producing about 5 gallons of juice (the size of a typical carboy) is a good deal of work (and lots of apples). I’ll start fresh then try regular apple juice.

Smoothie With No Ice

Recently I’ve felt that ice in a smoothie makes it too cold. In fact, why do we expect a smoothie to be cold?

I made one this morning with rice milk, bananas, and strawberries. No ice.

It was weird at first – because we expect that cold sensation.

But once I got past that expectation, it felt more natural. It reminded me of when I ate at a raw food restaurant last year. Something that seemed so unnatural actually seemed more natural afterwards.

I was reading about Juice Plus – wondering what the hell it is since a few people wrote in to me.

First of all, let’s not consider mixing it with Vodka and Soy (from Gary in Florida). No way Gary.

I think the idea of that drink is to get nutrition. I see it’s controversial, but everything in the health industry is.

I Just Puked

I drank what I thought was a shot of whiskey, but my mother who is visiting from the deep south (who chews tobacco), was spitting into a shot glass.

I even swirled the junk on my tongue expecting it to be fantastic.

Then I puked.

Blackberry Beer

I made a blackberry beer with real blackberries. It was delicious.

It’s the only berry beer I’ve had that is really worth it.

I had a blueberry beer last weekend.

One of my buddies who is a home brewer was saying that real brewers (commercial) think fruit beer is like the lowest form of beer there is.

Have any of you heard that?

Anyway, the blueberry beer was actually really good. I wouldn’t drink many of them, but a few here and there is fine.

Blueberry Juice Plus Gin!

Wow, this was a total surprise!

I mixed 1 cup of blueberry juice with gin and it was awesome.

1 cup blueberry juice
1 ounce good gin
Shake on ice, strain, serve up.

I thought this would be gross, but it was a delight.
